· S O A R ·

I will often make a little painting for myself to celebrate my word of the year. This year I have two words that I have decided to embrace. Soar and Love.
Soar came to me late last year. After a really hard year, after feeling so stuck, soar sounded like a word I would like to aspire to do. Soar, to me, represents being uplifted, uplifting others, freedom, being visible, free of judgement, bountiful and safe.Â
So when I decided to make a painting to represent soar, of course, a pair of wings came to mind.Â
To make this painting, I first prepped the canvas and journalling any negative thoughts I had around the word soar – like judgement, fear of visibility, being free without feeling selfish. I then covered those words with paint and collage before assembling my wings out of scrapbooking paper and placing them on my canvas.
While I was making this painting and thinking over my new relationship with the word soar, I realised that I would never soar if I didn’t have belief in myself and, at the core, have a strong sense of self-love and as such, I had to add the heart to my painting and the word love became my second word of 2025.Â
This year, I have a few other ideas in mind to celebrate both my words of the year – some journalling prompts to dive deeper, a new limited edition collection called Project: LOVE and maybe some more workshops based around soaring and love.
