It’s been a little while since I’ve shared new artwork here on the website.
Life at Casa da Mac has been moving at full speed lately, but amongst the busyness I’ve managed to hold onto one of the best creative habits I’ve ever developed – making art regularly.
Some days it’s a quick page in my art journal. Other days it’s late-night sketching at the kitchen table. And when time allows, it’s painting new stories in the studio.
Last year I purchased five large round wooden discs from our local hardware store.
At the time I didn’t have a clear plan for them. I simply loved their shape.
I was also slightly obsessed with wreaths and becoming increasingly fascinated by the rhythms of the moon and her phases.
The discs made their way into the studio and promptly disappeared behind a stack of canvases.
As these things often do.
Earlier this year I rediscovered them hiding in the corner and decided it was finally time to bring one to life.
The result was Crystal Wreath.
A painting inspired by moon magic, crystal energy, intuition and the gentle reminder that we already hold the wisdom we seek.
CRYSTAL WREATH
As the moon grows smaller with each passing night
It’s time to tend to your divine light.
She whispers to you to let go of your fears,
Let go of your pain and let go of your tears.
She whispers again that I see your truth,
Trust in me and I’ll be your proof.
The seeds of your dreams are already sown,
So put on your crown and sit on your throne.
She reminds you that you write your own chart,
So embrace your strength and open your heart.
And remember to always tend to your light,
With love and gratitude whispered into the night.
This painting feels like a reminder.
A reminder to trust ourselves.
To honour our intuition.
To release what no longer serves us and make space for what wants to grow.
And perhaps most importantly, to tend to our own light with the same care and devotion we so often give to everyone else.
