LAST June, I was sitting down to film an Art Date for my LilliBean Designs Community. Art dates are free long-form videos when I create a project or an artwork, and invite my community to join in with me.
But when I sat down to create my planned art date, I suddenly veered off course and created something that not only resonated with me, but with my whole community. It was as if I were divinely guided, or perhaps my soul whispered to me in that moment.
Soul Whispers are a tool that allows you to focus on personal reflection, emotional exploration and connect with your inner self. Essentially, they are little nuggets of wisdom shared with you from your soul.
I have been a Soul Whisperer for almost a year now, and I love the quiet, intuitive ritual that has helped me tune into and connect deeply with my inner wisdom.

MY RITUAL OF MAKING A SOUL WHISPER CARD
The practice of creating your Soul Whispers will be as personal to you as your eye colour, but I always love a good how-to guide, so this is how I make my Soul Whispers.
- Before I start, I spend a few moments clearing my desk. For me, this is symbolic of clearing my mind and being open to receiving messages from my soul, without the physical and mental clutter surrounding me .
- I light a candle. I love candles, so any excuse to light one makes me happy, but also it’s another sign to myself that I am ready to hear what my soul is whispering.
- I shuffle through my blank cards, choosing that appeals to me
- I pull out my tin of words (Literally a tin with thousands of cut-up words in it!) and sort through them.
- When I find a word or phrase that resonates with me, I will put it aside. When I have a few words, I start making a sentence. (It’s very important to remember here that the sentence does not have to make grammatical sense; it’s what it means to you that matters most.
- I’ll add some stickers, transfers, add a little border or some scribbled drawings.
- I pop the finished card on my studio altar so I can see it during the week.

But I can also tell you that since I have started my own Soul Whisper practice almost a year ago now
✨ I have a deepened self-awareness. I am able to cut through all the chatter in my head and hear exactly what I am asking for in that moment.
✨ I invite creativity into my life with a simple, quick and thought-free method. It takes (usually) less than five minutes from the moment I light the candle to when I place the finished card onto my altar.
✨ Sometimes, I have uncovered buried emotions or hidden blocks, which I may not have realised were lurking there in my subconscious.
✨I am often reminded by my soul whispers what truly matters. After a session, I feel more aligned with my life and any current decisions I need to make.
✨ I feel grounded. This is a simple way for me to ground myself, especially when life is so chaotically busy.
✨ I trust my intuition more. Tuning into my inner voices, and trusting that even if it doesn’t make total sense. More often than not, by the end of the week, my card is exactly what I needed to hear.
