I have been pulling one tarot card every morning for almost six years.
It’s become a ritual that I have before I start the day. A cup of tea, a journal and a card.
Whenever the queens visit me I always feel a jolt of excitement.Â
They don’t just offer guidance, the have a message that may sometimes be gentle, sometimes with a knowing nudge. And sometimes, if I am honest, a loving slap.
But they always have a message that I need to hear.Â
THE BEGINNING.
This collection began one morning in February, when I pulled the Empress .
This morning the card felt like a reminder that there is a Queen within every one, and the idea stayed with me.Â
The Queens in tarot represent powerful feminine archetypes. They are guides that show us different ways of being in the world. They remind us to stand in our own sovereignty, to trust ourselves, and to lead our lives with compassion, courage, intuition and truth.
And this is how I want to live my life. Not perfectly but consciously.

THE MAKING OF THE QUEENS:Â
When I first began this collection, I did all the research, sketched the ideas, and then promptly got stuck.
I couldn’t decide what size they should be, what surface they belonged on, or even how I wanted to paint them.Â

So, like many creative ideas, they quietly waited.
Then one afternoon I discovered a forgotten stack of 15 × 15 cm wooden panels tucked away in the studio cupboard, and suddenly everything clicked into place.
Sometimes paintings simply know when they’re ready.
Unlike some of my recent paintings (I’m looking at you, Braver!), this collection flowed from beginning to end. Every Queen seemed to arrive exactly as she wanted to be, and I absolutely love how vibrant, joyful and quietly powerful they became.
Which Queen is calling you?Â
From my whimsy world to yours.
