Izzy and her Cat

I have an unbelievable amount of new art work to share with you and although I really want to share with you some of the newer paintings that I have done and adore, I feel I should start from the beginning!

Last year a friend approached me about painting a mixed media canvas for her daughter who was celebrating her 21st birthday and she new she wanted a painting similar to my ‘Blossom‘ painting but the girl needed to be holding her cat like ‘cat woman‘ painting.

And as she was an exchange student in Japan and loved her time there could I include some of the origami paper stars she had and of course the cherry blossoms they and our home town are famous for.

I was super excited about this project, and I loved painting her. The only draw back was that I was painting in January so the paint would dry super quick 😉

And as a little bit of ‘ask and you shall receive’ from the universe, we actually had a couple of really unseasonably cool days which allowed me to finish this painting on time.

My friend loved it and told me if her daughter didn’t she didn’t care she’d keep it herself! I would have too because I loved how this lovely lady turned out!

I love how much thought my friend put into this painting for her daughter, and from all accounts she loved it just as much as her mum!

If you have an idea for a painting for you or some one else, why not pop over to my commissions page and see some of the different paintings I’ve completed for clients over the last four years! I’d love to hear what you would create!
