Earlier this year I shared the art journalling practice that had quietly become part of my weekly creative routine.
What started as a way to carve out time for play and experimentation has become one of the most valuable parts of my studio practice.
Today I thought I’d share a few of the journal pages I’ve been creating lately.
Some of them have remained exactly as they are, small moments captured on paper. Others have gone on to inspire larger paintings, new ideas and entire collections.
One of the things I love most about keeping an art journal is that there is no pressure attached to it.
The pages don’t need to be perfect.
They don’t need to be finished.
They don’t need to become anything more than a record of a creative moment.
And yet, time and time again, they surprise me.
When life feels busy, uncertain or overwhelming, spending even a short time painting in my journal helps me find my footing again.

It’s become a gentle reminder to slow down, trust the process and simply enjoy creating.
These pages continue to be some of the most honest artwork I make.
They are playful, imperfect, experimental and often a little bit random—which is probably why I love them so much.
Below are a few recent favourites from the journal.
I hope they inspire you to carve out a little creative time of your own.
If you’d like to follow along with the practice, you can find more journal pages on Instagram and Facebook where I often share them as they’re painted.I am so happy I had added this practice before covid and lockdowns began again, with toilet paper again being rationed and with so many plans and thoughts up in the air, this is bringing a little bit of sanity to my day!
From my whimsy world to yours.
