How to Use Oracle Cards (in Your Own Quiet, Intuitive Way)

How to Use Oracle Cards (in Your Own Quiet, Intuitive Way) - my favourite deck, Kirstin McCulloch LilliBean Designs

One of my favourite things, whether I’m at markets, reading emails, or chatting with you in messages, is hearing how you use your LilliBean Affirmation cards.

Your little rituals. Your moments of connection. The ways you’ve made them your own.

And often, I’ll be asked…
“But how do you actually use oracle cards?”

Especially if it’s your first time or you’re feeling a little unsure, or maybe you’re wondering if there’s a right way. (There isn’t BTW)

So I thought I’d share how I use mine. Not as a rulebook you have to use, but as an invitation to explore and create your own ways.

THERE IS NO ONE WAY (ONLY YOUR WAY)

Before anything else, I want you to know this: There is no right or wrong way to use oracle cards.

No perfect spread. No exact ritual you have to follow. Just what feels good to you.

I use a mix of oracle cards, tarot cards, and different creators’ decks alongside my own.

Some days it’s simple. Some days it’s more layered. There is no wrong way to do this.

MY WEEKLY RITUAL (A GENTLE ANCHOR)

Every Sunday afternoon, I pull a card for the week, usually from an oracle deck or my affirmation cards.

This becomes my anchor. A gentle reminder. A quiet intention to return to.

For example, if I pull “I Am Loved”, that becomes my focus. A reminder that I am loved. That I have love to give. That the voice in my head telling me I’m not enough isn’t the truth.

I keep this card in a little wooden holder on my shelf, where I can see it every day while I’m working.

A small, steady whisper throughout the week.

DAILY CARD PULLS (QUICK AND INTUITIVE)

Each morning, I’ll usually pull one tarot card. I used to pull three – past, present, future, but I found that one card is more than enough.

It’s quicker, simpler and often exactly what I need.

Sometimes the meaning is instant, but other times, I don’t understand it at all. That is, until I look back on the day and think, oh… that’s exactly what that was about.

And I love that.

WHEN I NEED GUIDANCE (OR A LITTLE NUDGE)

If I’m feeling stuck, uncertain, or a bit disconnected, I’ll sometimes pull a card. Just one.
Not to tell me what to do, but to help me see differently. To shift perspective or to open something up.

I also love using cards during new and full moon rituals, or at the beginning of the year—pulling one card for each month as a kind of gentle guide.

LIVING WITH YOUR CARDS (NOT JUST USING THEM)

Oracle cards aren’t just something you do; they can be something you live with. And that is really special.

I keep mine on my shelves, tucked into little corners of my studio. They are part of my space, part of my rituals.

And I’ve heard the most beautiful ways you use yours:

✨ Keeping a card in your wallet or phone case as a daily reminder
✨ Placing one on your desk at work each week
✨ Tucking them into journals or planners
✨ Creating little seasonal rituals around them

One of my customers told me she carries her card with her all month, a constant reminder.

And I just love that.

A FEW GENTLE WAYS FOR YOU TO BEGIN (IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY)

If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few simple ideas:

  • Pull one card each morning and sit with it for a moment
  • Choose a weekly card and keep it somewhere visible
  • Use a card as a journaling prompt
  • Pull a card when you feel stuck or unsure
  • Let your intuition guide you (always this one)

Keep it light and simple, and not a task you have to complete.

So, if you already use oracle cards, I would love to know how you use yours? What little rituals have you created?

Tell me, share with me, show me, I adore seeing your worlds.

And if you’re feeling called to begin (or deepen your practice), you can explore my collection of affirmation cards and upcoming oracle cards, both designed to be lived with, loved, and woven into your everyday life.

A little guidance, with a little magic and a quiet moment with yourself.

From my whimsy world to yours.
